Brewing in Brentwood, Essex, was restarted in 2006 when the Brentwood Brewing Company was set up by Roland Kannor & Dave Holmes. The town has a long history of brewing and malting reaching back to around 1700. We would like to think we continue that tradition with good quality real ales made using time honoured methods but with modern equipment and up to date control.

Roland and Dave were joined in 2008 by another local businessman, Jason Jopson. Jason helped finance a new 20BBL brewery which is use today.

We are now at our third site at Calcott Hall Farm. Dave Holmes has retired to Spain and Ethan Kannor has taken over as head brewer from Sophie De Ronde who was with us for 7 years.

In 2014 our side brand ‘Elephant School Brewing’ was born to cater for the ‘craft’ market, so called because there used to be an Elephant Training school in Brentwood.

We are Salsa plus beer accredited. A quality accreditation held by only 2 % of breweries in the country.

Since our very first brew (Summer Virgin) our beers have picked up numerous awards over the years, the latest being:

-Brentwood Best – Champion Best Bitter of East Anglia 2017 (CAMRA)

-Hope & Glory – Champion Premium Bitter of East England 2017 (SIBA)

– Lumberjack – Runner up in Bottled Strong bitter of East England (SIBA)

-Pils – Runner up in the Bottled Premium lager of East England (SIBA)

Winning such awards has led to us being chosen to brew many bespoke beers for high end restaurants + pub chains.

All of our spent grain and hops are recycled and given to local farmers and allotments. We have also just started to producing dog biscuits from our spent grain.

As of late 2017 the majority of our beers will be Gluten free and the bottles are also Vegan friendly.
