We are committed to making our ales available locally throughout Essex and our customer base is growing. Being a local brewery, we can keep delivery miles to a minimum, reducing the carbon footprint which is increasingly topical and welcomed by consumers. Our wider distribution is done in bulk by distributors, again ensuring minimal carbon impact. The new Brewery itself, being a bespoke plant, is modern and energy efficient.

 2007

2007 has seen the brewery grow in recognition, with distribution increasing locally direct from the Brewery, as well as nationally through distributors. The recent accolades from the CAMRA Chelmsford Summer Beer Festival in 2007 and 2009 against some 300 other ales was a huge achievement after only a few years in existence.

2008

Not content with standing still, we have welcomed new staff including Sophie de Ronde, B.Sc.(Hon.) as brewster, Nigel Sadler as brewing/commercial consultant and Ethan Kannor as brewing assistant as well as Jason Jopson – with whose business expertise we are now operating in a new Brewery in with a 3000 litre capacity which will enable us to produce around 60 casks per brew (that’s up to 4,320 pints, twice per week – that’s nearly 9,000 pints of ale each week!).

We have also now acquired all the required equipment to fully supply beer festivals and outside bars at events – racking, taps, cooling jackets and chillers – so if you want to arrange a beer festival, we can not only supply the beer, but the equipment, set-up and staff if required! Give us a call – 01277 375577 and leave it to us!!!

2009

Well so far so good!

Chelmsford CAMRA Summer Beer Festival was a stormer, the first time we had our own bar and what a success. Apart from being one of the busiest bars there, the public (that’s you guys!) voted for our beers (not surprising really, as they are so good!). We were awarded winner of three different categories:

Best mild, Marvellous Maple Mild 3.7%,

Best golden ale, Heavenly Body 4.3%,

Best strong ale, Chockwork Orange 6.5%

Then to top it all off, our Chockwork Orange came as a runner up in ‘overall beer of the festival’.

Our first major national awards were achieved in the recent SIBA East Region Competition where we were awarded with two medals:

Best Strong Ale, Lumberjack won GOLD

Best Speciality Beer, Chockwork Orange won SILVERRegionalWinnerGold2RegionalWinnerSilver2

2010

This year has seen us run our own bars at both Chelmsford and Chappel CAMRA beer festivals with great success! Having a brewery Bar allows you to sample a wider variety of our ales and also meet our friendly and welcoming staff!

Our Brewery Experience days have proved a great hit with those of you wanting to spend a day brewing some of our much loved beer. Call the office to book yourself in for the day!

Successes so far have come in the form of Beer of the Festival for ‘Summer Virgin’ at the Colchester CAMRA festival.

Our Bottled beer very proudly made the finals of the Essex Food & Drink Awards 2010 for Best Retail Product.

Not Forgetting, we also won the award for Best Growing Business (Micro) in the Essex Business Excellence Awards 2010!
